AEW Wrestledream Predictions

ree

Not only am I an author, but I'm a pro wrestling dork. How can I not be? It's art and story, mixed with violence.

Last month I correctly predicted all 10 matches (yes, even Toni Storm losing the belt) for AEW's All-Out pay-per-view. So it's time to see how long I can go 100% on predictions.

If you're bored and have nothing better to read (like one of my books), here's a fun prediction run-through:

My current AEW PPV Record: 10-0

Mercedes Mone Open Challenge

Mercedes is the new TBS title record holder at 510 days (today). She holds 10 belts and issued an open challenge to anyone… on a PPV. It can only mean one thing. A new AEW arrival and the end of the CEO’s title reign.

Result: Mercedes loses the TBS title to ???

Jamie Hayter vs Thekla

Thekla attacked Hayter when she showed up in AEW. Thelka will be involved in the new women’s tag team title picture. Hayter won’t. Hayter needs the win far more than the Toxic Spider.

Result: Hayter wins (and probably gets beat down from the Triangle of Madness)

The Hurt Syndicate vs The Demand

I called this result during All-Out (one of my 2 major upset calls). Last week, The Demand got a shock pinfall win against the Hurt Syndicate (their first pinfall loss in AEW). It’s a Tornado Tag, so it’s going to be wild. Sadly, the result won’t be.

Result: The Hurt Syndicate wins & Ricochet does something hilarious.

Jurassic Express vs The Young Bucks

Jurassic Express has just reformed. The Young Bucks “broke Bucks” gimmick is funny AF and not played out (yet). There’s $500k on the line. Tony Khan likes having happy AEW fans (to a fault sometimes). This only goes one way.

Result: Jurassic Express wins and the stadium sings that annoyingly happy song of theirs.

TNT Championship: “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher vs Mark Briscoe

As hot as Mark Briscoe is (and as loveable as he is), if Kyle Fletcher doesn’t absolutely destroy him tonight, I’ll riot. A one-man whirlwind of doom. I don’t want to see the Don Callis family get involved. Kyle Fletcher is young and has everything to be a superstar for another 20 years. Make a statement, Tony. Have Kyle beat down Briscoe all by himself, badly. Leave Briscoe beaten and very, very bloody in the middle of the ring, with the Protostar standing above him, holding the belt high.

Result: Kyle Fletcher retains.

Tag Team Championship: Brodido vs Kazuchika Okada & Konosuke Takeshita

I have a bad, bad feeling about this one. Brodido is hot and I love the pairing of Brody King and Bandido, but the potential FUN of having Okada/Takeshita wins the tag titles is too good to be denied. Their growing animosity, the fact they have stories in AEW and in New Japan to play out, the dynamic of them being in the Don Callis family as rivals… they could become reluctant champs that would make the tag division a lot of fun (as long as the Young Bucks don’t get involved in the title picture for a long time still). Hands down, the Okada/Takeshita tension story HAS so much potential to be the story of the end of the year/early 2026, it is the obvious choice to put the straps on them. But this is a PPV and this is Tony Khan, and he’ll play it safe and keep the belts on Brodido. My heart says one thing, my head says another. God, I hope I’m right.

Result: Okada/Takeshita are NEEEEWWWWW AEW Tag Team Champs!

I Quit Match: Jon Moxley vs Darby Allin

If you’re squeamish, go get your snacks during this match. It’s going to be brutal. Expect lots of gruesome spots and lots of blood. It’s one match I’ll watch every second of. This feels like one of those matches that, no matter where it falls on the card, there will be only one outcome.

Result: Darby Allin makes Jon Moxley say “I quit.”

Women’s World Championship: Kris Statlander vs “Timeless” Toni Storm

Toni Storm doesn’t need the belt again (definitely not so soon). Statlander cannot afford to lose it. That’s why booking this matchup so soon after Statlander won the title from Storm doesn’t work for me. I don’t see this helping either (unless some shenanigans happen). I would have liked to have seen a much longer build to this fight. Having Storm win only hurts Stat. Having the champ retain doesn’t hurt Storm & could maybe send her into a period of reflection where she toys with her character again.

Result: Kris Statlander retains the AEW Women’s Championship.

Men’s World Championship: Adam Page vs Samoa Joe

Both men hate the Death Riders. Both men are paragons of champions for AEW. Joe has the Opps & the trios title that comes with being part of that group. The trios division is on life support as it is. Having him take the belt would detract from the trios story, do nothing for Joe, and really hurt the legitimacy of Hangman’s title reign. Page needs a story. He (again) feels like a champ without a ‘great evil’ to defeat (which is so strange after such a great story that led him to winning the title from Moxley). I can’t think of a worse thing to do than to put the strap on Joe right now.

Result: Hangman Adam Page retains the Men’s World Championship.

Who do you have?

Do you enjoy LitRPG sports progression stories? What about a story about a guy who takes a bad piledriver that ends his wrestling career, only to find that he's been gifted a start-up promotion? I'm currently writing a new pro wrestling series. You can read the first two chapters of "The Booker" on my Patreon.
