The Stories We Tell Podcast Story Winners - March 2019
It's time to announce the next set of stories selected for an upcoming episode of The Stories We Tell podcast!
As always, the wonderful Natalie Aked challenged us to develop our writing skill set this month.
The following criteria were used for these works of fiction (less than 500):
1. Show the harshness of nature’s summer - this could be the heat, the humidity, the summer storms... whatever you choose, make it nature’s reminder that the summer is not always our friend.
2. We all have a preferred perspective in which to write. Pick a different one for this story - first, second, or third person... yes, the judges won’t be able to track if you do this, but if you stretch and write in a different one, it will help to improve your skills.
3. Include the following words or their branches (plurals, adjectives, etc) in your story somewhere (yes, all of them): ludicrous, jovial, squirrel.
This stories will appear in the August, 2019 episode of the show.
With no further ado, the writers selected to appear are (in no particular order):
Ann Burgess Summer Rain
Kevin Porter Under the Oak
Paul Sating 2050
Bel Nel Heat
Rob Harrison Thussen's Eye
Michele Potter Roads
Amanda Ward The End of Our Summers
Nathalie DeCock The Last Kiss
Tiffany Grassman Dreams Come True
Christine Larsen Going Home
Jennifer Worrell A Period of Adjustment
Elias Barnes Squirrel's Last Day
Erica Stensrud Summer Nightmare
Congratulations to all of the writers selected, and thank you to everyone who participated. Be sure to look for next month's challenge next week!
